“Mastering Examination: Essential Advice from College Counsellor”
Preamble:-Department of Library & Information Science in collaboration with the Counselling cell of Swami Vivekanand College of Commerce organised an insightful interview session on “Mastering Examination: Essential Advice from College Counsellor” on 23rd July 2024.
Description:- The Department of Library & Information Science in collaboration with Counselling Cell & NDLI club conducted the “Mastering Examination: Essential Advice from College Counsellor” organized an insightful interview session on managing examination stress.

The session included an interactive Q&A segment where Mrs. Sonia Desai discussed about the various challenges faced by the students and Florencia Souza the counsellor gave personalized advice and practical solutions, making the session highly engaging and beneficial.

Miss Florencia began by defining examination stress and its common symptoms, including anxiety, insomnia, and lack of concentration. She emphasized that stress is a normal response to the pressure of exams but can be managed effectively with the right strategies. The discussion highlighted various triggers of examination stress, such as fear of failure, high expectations from parents and teachers, and lack of preparation. Madam Floriencia encouraged students to identify their personal triggers to address them effectively. She also shared several study techniques to help students prepare better and reduce stress. These included creating a study schedule, breaking down the syllabus into manageable chunks, and using active learning methods such as summarizing and teaching others. Emphasizing time management, Florencia madam advised students to prioritize tasks, set realistic goals, and take regular breaks to avoid burnout. She also suggested using tools like planners and apps to stay organized. The interview covered various relaxation techniques to help students stay calm, such as deep breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation, and physical activities like yoga and walking. she demonstrated a simple breathing exercise that students could practice before exams. Madam encouraged students to seek support from friends, family, and counsellors when feeling overwhelmed. She stressed the importance of open communication and not hesitating to ask for help. Maintaining a positive mindset was another key point discussed. She also advised students to focus on their strengths, practice positive self-talk, and visualize success to boost their confidence
